Lecture 1: Overview of Subsea Pipeline Design Process

Overview of subsea pipeline systems: Wellhead to platform, platform to platform, platform to shore, loading/unloading lines to SPM Buoy. Design stages and process, pipeline design codes (API/ASME/DNV) and regulations, design limits, selection of design premise, Introduction to safety philosophy and risk basis, metocean and geotechnical considerations for subsea pipeline)

Lecture 2: Subsea Pipeline: Materials and Corrosion Engineering

(Lined Pipe Overview – Materials/grades/codes (API 5L / DNV), an overview of manufacturing methods of rigid line pipe – Seamless / Welded, H2S Service)
(Introduction to challenges and application of material science in Subsea pipeline industry, modes of corrosion and prediction models, Corrosion Control by Corrosion Inhibitors, Cathodic protection design, Coating Selection)

Lecture 3: Offshore Survey and Route Selection

(Overview of offshore survey methods and challenges of route selection)

Lecture 4: Subsea Pipeline: Wall thickness design and material grade selection

(Material grade selection, wall thickness design and design for buckle arrestors, discussion on API / ASME and DNV Code Requirements, introduction to software available in the industry)

Lecture 5: Subsea Pipeline: On-Bottom Stability Design

(Introduction to hydrodynamics, 1st principle 2D stability and concrete coating calculations,
Introduction to AGA and DNV recommendations and software, shore approach)

Lecture 6: Subsea Pipeline: Thermal expansion, global buckling, and pipeline crossing
